Assignment 3

"Orthographic Drawings Of Mini Chalet"

Progress

Week 10

Plan

Drawing

In the first week of the assignment, I chose a template for the chalet and began arranging the spaces within it, followed by decorating/furnishing it virtually by referring to the IKEA website as instructed by Ms Ann. This was done alongside a draft of the floorplan, as the layout and furnishing is most apparent there. I also chose a location for the chalet at the lake.

Week 11

Front & Right Elevation

The second week was spent creating a draft of the front and right external elevations. In the process of doing so, I had to make a quick and simple sketch of my roof plan as well as searching for images of the location surrounding my chalet in order to provide a glimpse/view of the site context and topography. This took quite a number of tries as I constantly make mistakes in terms of scaling and changing the components of my chalet to make it more "challenging" to draw.

Week 12

Section 1 & Roof Plan

The third week was when I began drafting out my first section drawing, as well as making the actual drawing of my roof plan. This required me to research a bit on the different types of roof structures and try visualising them in my drawings. In the end, i decidedto take one of the advanced/challenging roof structure (terracotta hipped and gable roof) from the padlet Ms Ann provided in Times along with reference from online sources. Unfortunately, I was not able to complete it on time to obtain feedback during the tutorial session.

Week 13

Section 2 &

Site Plan

During the final week on the assignment, I completed the draft of the second section drawing and the complete site plan along with the roof plan. However, I submitted the assignment late because I still needed time to ink all the drawings.

White Structure

Final Outcome

Several notable things which i have learned from this assignment are the various symbols used for different fixed building components (windows, doors, floor drop, etc.), basic roof types and structures, basic space ergonomics and the essential utilities for living spaces
