Assignment 2
"Simple Measured Drawings"
Progress
In the first week of the assignment, I grouped up with Andrew, Kimberly, Ming Yee, Shi Pei and Zhen Dong to measure our assigned space (TLC Block C Level 7). We then prepared a draft of the floorplan for feedback during the tutorial next week.
The tutorial session in the second week was held as a face-to-face class where we obtained feedback on our floorplan. We were then instructed to prepare the draft for the elevation drawing by next week. We also stayed back after the tutorial session in order to remeasure our assigned space as well as obtain the measurements for the elevations and sections.
In the third week, we obtained feedback on our elevations and were given a short but detailed brief on our upcoming section drawings. We received quite a number of advice in proceeding with the section drawings, such as considering the thickness of the wall/ceiling and taking note of the details for the 500mm extensions at appropriate sides of the space.
The fourth week on the assignment was spent completing the detail drawing, followed by final edits/last minute changes and outlining the drawings along with the title block. Unfortunately, it appears that I have forgotten to add the material symbols in my floorplan.
Final Outcome
Several notable things which i have learned from this assignment is the ability to effectively work in a team, the various symbols used in construction drawings and its function, the very basic structural layout of a room and the use of different line weights as well as tools in drawing.
